First UT student delegation to be sent to World Model United Nations
Much debate but also many social events await the first ever UT delegation to be sent to WorldMUN at the end of March. In this Model United Nations conference, fourteen students from many study programs all over the UT and different nationalities will take part. They will debate for five days and try to solve world problems, such as global climate change. With 1,600 students from all over the world, the WorldMUN in The Hague promises to be a truly international experience. The group has been getting ready for this event since January and all are eager to participate.
Delegates will be representing Iceland and Micronesia, and all are really digging into knowledge on these countries at the moment. To debate successfully, the delegates need to know as much as possible both about these countries and the topics being discussed. This is the first ever UT delegation to be sent to such an event, but there for sure are more to come! The Twente United Nations Association, founded by five UT students, is looking forward to organizing more delegations during the whole year. The next conferences will be held in Thessaloniki and Milan, followed by Zagreb later this year. These three conferences are made possible by the generous help and support of the International Office. Places are still available, and any UT student or staff member can become part of the association! All information will be available shortly on http://tuna2009.wordpress.com.
