This is not an excessive thing if we say that the city of Enschede is indeed a fun place to learn and to live. Like the other cities in the Netherlands, Enschede has a high degree of order, on any grounds. But Enschede is not Amsterdam or Rotterdam, a large city in the Netherlands, a very busy city with heavy traffic. Communities in Enschede are also one of the most friendly societies in the Netherlands.
In the past, Enschede is one of the cities with largest textile industry in the Netherlands. There are 75 textile mills spread in Enschede. But now, none of these are left. The existence and history of these can be seen at the Museum of Textiles in Janninksfabriek, along the road Haaksberger (straat). Now, Enschede has been transformed into a modern green city. Why green? In Enschede, we can find a lot of opened green parks. Besides that urban forests are also scattered in various parts of the city. So it was really appropriate to call Enschede as the greenest city (the greenist city) in the Netherlands in 2003.
Enschede is also widely known as an educational city. Although it is not the main destination of Indonesian students, there are two major campuses in Enschede, University of Twente and the Saxion Hogeschool. ITC is also a campus, which has now merged into a faculty at UT. In the three campuses, a lot of Indonesian students are continuing their studies, but here is not as much as in some other cities in the Netherlands. Like other cities in Europe, in Enschede there are also many sports facilities, both outdoor and indoor. In some places, we can use it for free or can also join the sports clubs in Enschede. The city of Enschede might not have a big name in Dutch football universe, such as Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven. But FC Twente is the winner of the Dutch League Era divisie champions. FC Twente is a new strength in the Dutch football and also in Europe.
