  • Archipelago with more than 17,000 islands and 33 provinces.
  • It is lying along the equator. Pontianak is the zero degree point (0° 0′ 0″ N, 109° 20′ 0″ E).
  • Since the tropical climate, we have only monsoonal wet season and dry season.
  • We have at least 150 active volcanoes, including the famous Krakatoa, Tambora, and Toba.
  • More than 200 million people live here. The most populated islands is Java.
  • We are more than 300 ethnic groups and 742 local languages and dialects, including Chinese and Malay.
  • We are the homeland of ‘Batik‘. Although many countries claim their batik, there are many patterns of batik originally from Indonesia. The name itself comes from Javanese: amba (to write) and titik (‘dot’ or ‘point’).
